The figures below compare what the Herndon store had been paying for toner for the HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M554dn used in the trial with what the store paid for Chantilly Cartridges’ service during the same period. Before the trial, the store was paying approximately $1,088 per OEM toner set, every two weeks.

What the Service Does

Chantilly Cartridges does more than provide replacement cartridges. We track each printer’s cartridge cycle, prepare the correct cartridge in advance, and perform scheduled onsite replacement before toner shortages interrupt store operations.

When the trial began, the results in a grocery-store environment were not yet known. The Herndon location demonstrated that a scheduled cartridge management service could produce substantial financial and operational benefits in a busy H Mart store.

Is an “Empty” Toner Cartridge Really Empty?

Most printers estimate toner levels rather than directly measuring the amount remaining. Toner may settle unevenly, remain trapped in parts of the cartridge, or be left behind when page counters, chips, or conservative replacement thresholds signal that the cartridge is empty.

Toner is also consumed on faded, streaked, or incomplete pages that must be discarded and reprinted. Together, toner left inside the cartridge and toner consumed on unusable prints can represent an estimated 15% to 30% of a cartridge’s retail value.

Authorized H Mart leadership can customize projected toner costs, projected savings, and the estimated impact of extending the program to additional locations. Projections can include more than one printer and separately account for eliminated toner and paper waste.
